Electric Punanny began as one of NYC's most popular monthly underground parties that boasted founders Jasmine Solano and MeLo-X's love for reggae, dancehall, house and electronic music. Since then, the movement has come to represent a melting pot of downtown youth, indie and street cultures all around the world. Over the last ten years, followers of Electric Punanny have been treated to guest performers and hosts including Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Melanie Fiona, Jidenna, Theophilus London, Hood Celebrityy, Chuck Inglish, Bunji Garlin, Dre Skull, Dubbel Dutch, Johnny Osbourne, Popeye Caution, Ayo Jay and more.
With such a winning template, it only made sense that Electric Punanny would extend this energy and translate it in other locales worldwide. Electric Punanny has toured nationally in major US cities such as Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, DC, Austin (SXSW) and Indio (Coachella). They've wrapped two international performance tours in Tokyo, Australia, Sweden, Paris, London, Berlin, China, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines and South Africa. Electric Punanny has headlined several festivals including England's Glastonbury Festival, Australia's Island Vibe Fest and Brooklyn's Afropunk Festival.
Besides touring, Electric Punanny has released original music including "Rosa Caleta” single premiered via Noisey, Nicki Minaj's "Trini Dem Girls" Remix ft. Chi Ching Ching - and most recently "Tiger Eye" ft. Donae'O, "Gymnastics on Fire" ft. The.Wav, and "My Way" ft. Popeye Caution premiering on Beats1 Apple Radio.
Those who become regulars of Electric Punanny come to love and appreciate the diverse mix of characters, the perspiration inducing sounds, and just the right amount of raunch to keep everyone thirsting for more. From running the downtown NYC party scene to establishing themselves as an international music duo, Electric Punanny will continue to produce original material set to release in 2020.
